Jack is currently playing in a spring soccer league, Fun Sports. It is a Christian soccer league. He is having fun and loves to drop kick it and practicing his moves that he has studied when he watched pro-soccer on TV. His favorite pro team is Manchester out of England.
Carrie enjoyed another season of adaptive t-ball in the League of Dreams. A local organization hosts teams of special needs kids to play t-ball for 6 weeks. Carrie's team was the Angels. Each player is assigned an "angel" to help them play the game. Jack was Carrie's "angel" and the two of them had a lot of fun. It is truely a family event...Carrie plays, Jack is her angel, Tom coaches and I am the team Mom. It's sure a blessing and a whole lot of fun!
Easter was a fun time. The kids were surprised when the Easter Bunny found them in the mountains and hid eggs for them in the snow!
This winter we spent a lot of time in our local mountian community, Alta Sierra. We enjoyed snow tubbing at the local ski resort, sledding, snow ball fights and riding snow mobiles. This winter sure seemed to pass by so quickly being up there. We can't wait for next winter's snow fall! I guess we're making up for all those years we never took the kids to the snow! :)

Welcome to the Mettler Family Blog!

A little background on what we've been up to lately...

Carrie celebrated her 11th birthday in January. Hard to believe my little girl is "11!" She is into everything pink and glittery one minute and then digging in the dirt with her Dad the next. She and I are continuing to home school and it is going so well. She is learning sight words, counting to 30 and can write her alphabet. She is a very happy and helpful kiddo to have with me everyday. We are a "team."

Jackson is 9 years old and in 3rd grade. This year he has discovered a love of soccer. He played in a fall league and is going to play again this spring. He is also into Justice League Super Heroes, Star Wars, animals and becoming the next Steve Irwin. He's been raising two lizards that he caught at my parent's house since Thanksgiving that he is very proud of...their names are Hoppy and Speedy. He is our "little man" and is almost a 3rd adult sometimes running around the house.

Tom continues to be busy with work. A job title...hmm...that's a tough one. He is busy with managing our rental properties, doing electrical contracting work for farmers in our area, drag racing, flying his remote control airplanes and growing almonds. He has decided to slow down this racing season to be spend more time with the rest of us. Some of his good racing friends are going "pro" and he has been given an open invitation to join them any time. After two amazing racing seasons in which he won 3 National Events and 2 Divisonal Events, he is ready to downshift a bit.

As for me...I am very busy being the Domestic Engineer. I always seem to have more to do that time allows, but it's all good. This year I have decided to slow down and not commit to too many committees or activities and so far it's been great to have time to unwind. Between the daily grind at home and with the kids I am also helping Tom with our rentals and almond orchard by being the "office staff" to keep things rolling smoothly. I enjoy it but also dream for the weekends that we can get away to the mountains for some family R & R.

I can't finish this post without mentioning our animal farm...our dogs, Nick and Bessie, keep us on our toes. Nick goes to work with Tom everyday and Bessie gives the kids and I love all day long...until she gets into her crazy, puppy mode! Nick is mello and one day we hope that Bessie will be too! The kids have amazingly kept two goldfish, Calico and Fred, for almost a year! At Thanksgiving, Jack caught two lizards, Speedy and Hopper, at my parent's ranch and...last but not least, we can't forget our finicky cat, Boris. He is black, fluffy and affection is ALWAYS on his terms....just like a cat. (smile)
